Reception’s Rockets

The children in Reception arrived at school a few weeks ago to find underpants hanging on a washing line in the playground and the classroom. They had strange green handprints on them!  After reading the story ‘Aliens Love Underpants’, the class decided that aliens must have been to the gardens near the school, stolen the underpants and dropped them as they were flying back to their planet! The children were inspired to draw and write about aliens, rockets and trips to the moon. They made their own rockets using junk modelling items, drew the planets using pastels and sequenced the planets too. The children also chose to make their own books about the planets and really enjoyed creating a space station outside using the boxes and crates. They also enjoyed wearing the jet pack made from large water bottles to explore the moon.
